Hi All

The Soapbox
Being the last day of the year, 31 December is traditionally the time we sit, contemplate and draw up a list of resolutions for the New Year – things we would like to change about ourselves and how we interact with the world.

Perhaps this is a better time of year to be doing this – after all, it is spring and the world around us is changing, renewing itself as it does in that endless circle of seasons. We should ask of ourselves, do we really need all the baggage and negativity - emotional and material - that we lug around with us, day after day. Maybe it’s time for the new growth within to burst forth - like many of the beautiful spring flowers we see around us.
Maybe a spring resolution or two right now would not be such a bad idea!

By the book
Jan-Georg of Halfampieskraal informed the Natter that there is great excitement in the air – their new book, ‘Halfampieskraal Celebrates’ will be launched and available in bookstores end September.
It is a glossy food & lifestyle book, photographed by Simon Scarboro and authored by Maia Du Plessis and is about celebrations on a farm in the Overberg. Published by Human&Rousseau.
Check out www.kraal.biz.

A well deserved break.
Gunners Lodge will be closed from Monday 19th Sept till Tuesday 11th Oct. 2011. Neil and Rose will be closing shop and taking a break – the first one in nine years!! We wish you a fantastic holiday and a safe return!

Congratulations Renee

A big thank you to Napier
The reaction to the Natter appeal for support for Anel Fourie has been fantastic.
Many of you have pledged your support after the Natter published an appeal for assistance for Anel Fourie, the daughter of our own Napier butcher.

A big thank you to the Botanical Society for their fund raising last Saturday.

The Fox is running two raffles, the proceeds of which go to the Anel Fund.
Mike has informed the Natter that The Fox will be having a special event on Heritage day, 24th September, a Potjie and Rib day – all day – with live music and entertainment. A sheep will be raffled with all proceeds going to the Anel fund. Tickets cost R100 with R10 per ticket also going to the Anel fund.
Pre-booking for this event is absolutely essential.
Enquiries: 028 423 3293.

If anybody still wishes to still make a donation to the Anel Fund, please drop off your envelope at the Church office, marked “for Anel”.
The very best support we as Naperians can give is to buy local.
Support the Napier Butchery and you support Anel!!

Letter to the Natter
Dear Natter
I want to let you know about a particularly good experience I had with Napier's new Dog Grooming Parlour, "Club K9".  I had heard about the special introductory offer in August and thought I would take advantage of it.  My dogs came back happy, relaxed, polished and proud - and it didn't break the bank either! The actual parlour is also really impressive and has been specifically kitted out for the purpose of pet grooming.   I also found out that the owner, Jeanette O 'Toole, completed an internationally recognised pet grooming course, before starting Club K9.  So just want to encourage everyone to give Club K9 a try! Local business deserves our support.
Thanks
Dee Robinson
