11 October 2016
Due to a very busy and active so called "quiet winter season" we we are taking a well deserved little break before the summer hordes descend on the Overberg.
From the 18 October until 3 November Mark and Stephen will NOT be at Pascal's of Napier, but we will be leaving her in the very capable hands of Annelie and Ria.
Normal operating hours will apply.
(P.S: We would never be able to do this if we did not have the fantastic, awesome staff we have so let me take this opportunity to say a big thanks to
them – many of you also having enjoyed the fruits of their labour.)
Good news for those who love bowls!
A group of local business men and residents have joined together to save and restore the Napier bowling Club. Already the club house has been repainted, the surrounding area cleaned up, electrics fixed and outstanding debts paid. The green is in the process of being replanted and should be ready by
early next year.
Even if you have never played bowls before, but would like to, here is an opportunity to get involved. Help, learn, play.

Going strong with ever changing goodies on offer. Remember to drop by on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Marah Community Project
Christmas will soon be here! Therefore we are busy collecting small gifts suitable for the gift boxes we deliver to folk over the age of 75 years in our community at Christmas time. Pretty ribbon with which to secure these boxes is also needed.
Please leave any donations towards this community Christmas project at PASCALS or visit the NAPIER MARKET where you will find a large box into which you can put your gifts. Should you need further information please contact Jenny on 028 423 3439
Experienced House Sitter and Pet Sitter
Mrs Kathleen Park has recently moved to Napier from Cape Town. She is a very experienced House Sitter with contactable references.
She is a mature, non-smoker who has a great deal of experience in caring for dogs, cats, birds and horses. She will also exercise your dogs if you are unable to.
Please contact her on 072 763 7632 to discuss your needs and what the costs involved would be.
Stress getting to you?
Treat yourself to an invigorating and rejuvenating massage with Annette.
Also makes for a great gift. Tel: 072 226 4317.
"At The Oscars"
The anticipation is over. The doors at Oscar's are open. Serving coffees, cakes and light meals while you browse the collectables and antiques,
it's also the place to have your hair done or cut. A worthwhile addition to our village!!
Overberg Art Music

The participants are Piet Koornhof (violin), Tracey Burger (flute) and Tinus Botha (piano). The programme includes beautiful music of a wide variety, and guarantees to be a very pleasant musical experience.

Botanical society Update
The Botanical Society is currently holding a hacking drive to clear alien vegetation from the area at the mountain end of Reservoir road.
A small but dedicated group of hackers are very busy clearing Pines and Wattles from the critically endangered veld type between the mountain sandstone and the Renosterveld shales. The soil types found in this fringe area are totally unique to that environment and very specific species grow there. So much of this belt is either lost to agriculture or covered in invasive plants. There is a real danger of losing unique species. The long term plan is to clear
this specific area to the river and create a recreational area for nature lovers and dog walkers alike. If anyone would like to join the group
they are more than welcome. Enthusiasm, a saw or loppers, and a knowledge of what an alien plant looks like is all they need!
You don’t have to be ultra fit, if you are not up to hacking, support in the way of refreshments is also welcome. We meet every Thursday from about 8am and work until it gets too hot. If it rains try Friday.
